The word choices we make

Coming home from work the other day I got off the tram at my usual stop and sidled up to a pretty young blonde who was waiting for the little green man.

"Your nuts are falling out," I muttered.

She looked up at me sharply, her eyes uncertain. "What?"

"Your nuts," I said. "They're falling out." I pointed.

"Oh!" she exclaimed, and adjusted her grip on a bag of almonds. Then she turned and looked the other way.

Now now. It only occurred to me in retrospect that my phrasing of it might have conveyed the wrong impression. Any bodily violence would have been an extreme response.
